1. Filling a gap between education and parenting blogs is where I feel I can offer something original: my intentions in sharing my world of art education are to inspire fellow educators and empower parents to connect with their kids through art.
2. Reading blogs and perusing Pinterest is cost-free professional development--I glean so much inspiration and information and I want to give back.
3. From the Dalai Lama's Instructions for Life "Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time." I envision this blog to be a living archive that I, and hopefully parents, students, and colleagues, can enjoy today and tomorrow.
One of the inspirations for starting my blog was my future sister-in-law's blog.
In Olivia's words, she is a "a natural parenting mama to six daughters, including twins!" and they "strive to live green and choose organic while remaining frugal."
I love MooMama's candid writing style and the way she documents with story-telling photographs. Her blog also includes fabulous giveaways, recipes, and craft tutorials. I don't see her family as often as I would like these days so reading Olivia's blog is a great way to stay informed of family news.
Here are some of my favorite posts that I think you will also enjoy.
Apple Craft with Yarn - I can't wait to try this process with Pre-K or K!
Keeping it Real - She "keeps it real" in this post and all posts.
What a Party! - The entire family comes together in an imaginative wedding of two stuffed bears! (I pinned this on my Pinterest board Family Fun.)
Evangeline's Year - Olivia documents her youngest girl's first year in monthly photos.
MooMama is super creative and made this handmade fabric banner with my name during my first year of teaching. Three years later and it still looks brand-new!
I am excited to finally be part of the blogging world and pay homage to one of my blogging inspirations!
